btw i remember a line by gustave flaubert (french writer) who died penniless, " writing is a dog's life but the only life worth living."

It might be in old days. In recent times, west really celebrate their writers. Do we celebrate our writers? If yes, how?

i don't think so, its just based on inviting them to a conference or in book fairs, like sang-e-meel publisher often invites intezar hussain in their ceremonies, they also arranged a show on manto but how many people know about it, so promotions and to arrange somthing in a bigger way is necessary....

We see so many billboards about lawn suits in Karachi. have you ever seen a book being promoted like this in Karachi? I remember only one book :p
Promotion is demand based.Our people are more interested in lawn brands then books.They know how to target customers.

Lawn waly of course.Books ko promote krny k liye bhe media campaign chala sky hain but it seems like nobody is interested in it.

shayad nahin… aur agar kiya bhi ja sakta ho to aaj mere liye definition kuh aur hogi. kal mera mushahida, mera tajruba iss definition ko change kar de ga. ye sirf muhabbat ke liye hi nahin nafrat ke liye bhi kaha ja sakta hai.

i agreed, as i mentioned earlier very few people are interested in books so media don’t want to waste time and money on it
