That was an interesting novel and I completed it in 4 days. Normally, I'm slow in reading English fiction.

What is it about ?
It was about two families. One in Calcutta India and other in London and how the different incidents during 1939 to late 20th centuries affected them. A good read. Well written and informative. Leaned some new historical matters including 1964 disappearance of a sared relic (Prophet's hair) from Hazrat Bal Dargah , Sri Nagar and how it lead to riots as far as Dhaka. Lesson learnt that we have not learnt anything and behave same even someone thousands miles away can provoke us to make our fellow countrymen's lives miserable.
It was also about love between two persons living in different continents and about what does freedom mean to an eastern woman having an expsoure to European life.
