Grandfather paradox never made sense to me. Who to say that when you go to past and murder your grand father, the timeline does not split into two time streams. In one of those realities, you were never born, in another one you did (so you can go back and kill you grand dad so time could split into 2 timelines) ..

the time splits only when you go back. that time stream was the effect of you going back. It never existed before.

Sci-Fi.... another possibility is that you can only go back in time in read only mode.. That is you can only observe that all and cannot change any thing.

Theory is not a problem as theory allows time travel. Its the technology that will take few 100 yrs to be there

On a serious note ...
The 4th dimension is time, therefore the manipulation of time must be in higher dimensions ... Since to manipulate the 3rd dimension (i.e. to move) we must interact with time ... i.e. speed ... therefore to manipulate time it would follow that we need to move to higher dimensions. Time Travel = Time/x where x is this other dimension.
