7 days in a week is religious, all the religion of the book: judaism, christianism and islam, do believe God made our world in 6 days and "rested" the 7th, that is why people from these religions work 6 days and rest the 7th, friday for muslims, saturday for jews, sunday for christians.
humans need small time units to organise their lives, a month is a long period of time, so the week is a smaller time frame that is building human relationships as the weekly resting day is reserved for social gatherings, festivals, and all sorts of socialising, including group prayers!
