Re: Thori dur please!

Well Niksik, does your friend (this guy's wife) stand close to your husband as well?

May be you should communicate politely to them. Like say, i and my husband don't like being going to places with lots and lots people where ppl are standing and looking at each other closely. May be they will get message. I wish you all the best though!

Re: Thori dur please!

:rotfl:
you never defined proximity limit therefore they did.

Re: Thori dur please!

Re: Thori dur please!

Re: Thori dur please!

Sneeze / cough on him or accidentally spill something on him. Train him subconsciously like a Pavlov dog so he learns to stand away from you.

Re: Thori dur please!

I got the perfect solution…

pretend you have got tourettee syndrome…and then do what this lady in the video does…

Re: Thori dur please!

Which can get quite irritating for many people na!

Re: Thori dur please!

Nice! :hehe:

Re: Thori dur please!

I agree with what another poster said, just keep taking a stap back from him or her, make sure you don't bump into anything though!

Re: Thori dur please!

If you stepped back or moved aside a little during conversation with him that might transfer the message that he is making you uncomfortable.

Re: Thori dur please!

No the wife doesn't stand close to my husband. She just like to hold my hand while talking!

Re: Thori dur please!

Isn't that a good time practicing taekwondo?

Say, "Uh huh, I'm listening"...

... while swinging arms in front..;)

Re: Thori dur please!

I have a friend who is like that. I just plain told him, "Hey! You're gettin' in my space...back off a little!" He was perfectly cool with that, He didn't know. He had no intention of making me uncomfortable, he just has a different sense of personal space than I do.

Different people have different senses of personal space. They just don't know that they're impinging on yours, so you need to tell them. Say, "I'm feeling crowded because I'm not used to people standing so close, no offense, but it's just my nature, would you mind stepping back so I can see you better and focus on what you're saying." Do a little research on personal space so you can talk about it as though you just learned about it, so you finally have the words to express how close-standing people have made you uncomfortable all these years... It's always good to be able to quote an article you read on the BBC website or some such ;) .
