Re: Thin and Fat! Advise please
That’s not true at all. The default sugar levels in the blood (carbohydrates) provide energy for cellular respiration but they last only about 15-20 minutes (if you are running). ONLY after this moment does the body begin to break down fat into carbs/trigs for energy. Thus, running for over 15-20 minutes is a must for fat metabolism. Sprinting uses anaerobic respiration, in which less energy is produced for every molecule of glucose expended because the body requires more energy than the proportional amount of oxygen available for respiration. This results in the formation of lactic acid that causes muscular inflammation (which explains why sprinting causes pain and is unsustainable for longer periods). Fat is only metabolized (in other words broken down into carbs/trigs) when the default blood/sugar levels have been depleted. You cannot just activate fat metabolism without expending the already present carbohydrates in the blood. All “sudden” requirements use anaerobic respiration which still expend carbs (not fat). Fat cannot be used to produce energy directly.
Also, in the case of running, the initial source of fat for metabolism comes from the legs (not the belly). Eventually after depleting all the fats in the legs, the body will start using fat from other parts of the body (including the belly). The best exercise for targeting belly fat is not running, but boxing and dancing (both of which consist of abdominal movements).
