What happened in Canada is called a back lash. The Canadian "far left" policies are failing. Canadan socialized healthcare is abysmal. The policy of "Canadian Independence", simply to spite and be different from the US, that the liberals followed has not had the returns they expected. More recently, Canadians are starting to feel that immigrants are becoming a burden on their social service structure. I'll grant, there is a general dislike of the US and American policies in Canada. Most of that is due to having to play second fiddle than anything else, but it does exist. Even with this bias, Harper won. I bet the Canadians who elected him, allow him to make most, if not all, of the changes he wants. He is also a brilliant politician, hopefully he can set Canada straight.

LOL, do you live in Canada? Your analysis is wayy off. There is no disquiet in Canada whatsoever about immigrants. In fact, even the most conservative areas in Canada (i.e. Alberta) are calling for increases in immigration due to a labor shortage. In fact the only reason the Liberals were voted out is the Sponsorship Scandal and the subsequant Gomery Inquiry.
