Minister resigns after criticising CJP

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Defense Production Abdul Qayyum Jatoi who had termed the domicile of Chief Justice of Pakistan as fake has rendered his resignation to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday.

Gilani, who took serious notice of the public outbursts of Jatoi’s in Quetta, had summoned him to Islamabad.

Jatoi had been asked to explain his position on the statement against CJP and the Army.

The prime minister during the meeting was extremely angry with Mr. Jatoi’s public outbursts.

Jatoi, after the resignation, said that he had given the statements in his personal capacity. My purpose was not to malign any institution, he added.

Earlier, the state minister while talking to media after meeting with Talal Akbar Bugti had said that “everyone including Sindhi, Pashtun, Baloch, Saraiki and Punjabis should get share in corruption.”

“We provided the Army with uniforms and boots not so that they kill their own fellow countrymen.”

He had also said that Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was resident of Faisalabad but had obtained a ‘fake’ domicile of Balochistan.

Are you happy now? By the way there seems to be some truth on his bolded comments.
