use Moroccan oil. Or if you want to save a few bucks, try Argan Oil. I have THE most frizzy and nappy hair a brown girl can have, and it’s the only thing that tames my hair and makes it look nice. Just wash you hair, and apply it when wet. Your hair will turn out soft and frizz free.
other tips:
use a leave in conditioner, or if you dont have it at the moment, i would just leave a tiny bit of normal conditioner in my hair
use baby oil after washing your hair (it smells a lot nicer than other oils and isnt that heavy)
a diffuser makes a BIG difference
Thanks a lot afshi. I ll check for these oils today.
That hardly works when its too humid.
Jalpari , Afshi’s shared some really good tips , I would just like to add that , you dont use a towel to dry your hair after a bath. It just increases the frizz, let them dry on their own. Also if you put oil on wet hair , it traps the moisture in them for a longer time and that too reduces the frizz ultimately.
I put oil in wet hair when i am running out of serum:p
Yea no towel dry.
The more you straighten your hair, the more prone to frizziness it will become as you are damaging the cuticle and making it more porous.
Firstly you need to get your hair back in good condition, so stop straightning so much (or at all) and try to work with what your hair naturally wants to do.
Buy a decent professional shampoo and conditioning treatment. Aveda Dry Remedy is great.
Whilst your hair is wet, it’s time to get some products into it. Some of the brands do protein sprays which protect the hair whilst being weightless, so liberal application of that is fine.
I recommend frizz ease too (when your hair is wet) but used sparingly because otherwise your hair will feel greasy.
After this, you can use a mousse to enhance your waves.
Don’t towel dry or brush it through more than the initial brush. You want to do a lot of scrunching to encourage the waves.
If you continue like this, hopefully when you do straighten your hair for the odd occasion, it will feel much smoother and get less frizzy due to humidity.
I have straightened them only twice in last 6 months, though i do blow dry them once in a weak.
Hey i dont want waves:(
I stopped towel drying altogether now…I admit it was out of laziness more than anything else but what CB is saying helps.
:k:
I stopped straightening recently because we’ve just been having too much humidity and thunderstorms so what is the point of straightening. The thing is, when you get way from the iron…your hair starts to regain bounce, body and health. I comb through my hair with my fingers, flip it over, apply a detangling mousse and scrunch. Thats it. I let it air dry and then clip it when Im at work.
Jalpari, if your hair is wavy then do your best to try and work that wave into a manageable hair style. I LOVE my hair straight but I gotta work with I got varna vo bhi nahin rahega…lol…
My hair was straight, just slightly, very slightly wavy towards the tips. I started using straightener some 3-4 years ago, that too on daily basis, for that sleek look:(
