the only credit i will give to the musharraf govt is that they did not physically assault/assasinate key witnesses/lawyers/judges. and that perhaps they did not persuade the judges actively enough to decide in their favour. Beyond that what else do those saying its a credit to the govt that the judiciary is independent, what do they think Musharraf and co could have done that they didnt do? He does not have political capital enough to dissolve the courts and impose martial law, what else could he have done that he didnt already do? Even what he did do got massive protests across the country, I think he was simply unable to do anything but letting the courts decide.
