As long as basic tenants of Islam , the basic philosophy of touheed , the basic orders and prohibitions , basic ibadat are concerned they are all there. The devil is in details. For some it is dilution of Islam to not accept the concept of Imam and accepting the holy prophet family's right to guide the Muslims. For others dilution means that people do not believe in unprovoked and uncalled for killing of kuffar anymore. For some dilution means not to belive in that Holy Prophet(SAW) is still alive in his grave.
So what kind of dilution are we talking about ?
There have been groups in Muslims always who do not believe in 5 times prayer , then there are some groups who do not belive in the form and format of namaz . So that dilution has never hurt Islam , it might have hurt those who want more poeple to believe in what they believe.
