The right way to make exit: Akram

I have said this again and again that he was not dropped because of his game. He can bowl blindly n still be better then half the bowlers around the world - given all the turmoil his career went through towards its twilight, personal problems like his diabetesn stuff like that.

He was dropped before as well n after the world cup as well because he was extremely "political" - n lets not argue abt this, we all know that. If he would be in the team he would want things his way - doesnt matter if he's the captain or not.

In the world cup thou he dint behave like that, because he knew this is his last world cup n possibly last tournament as well so he kept all that aside n just concentrated on his game. Numerous times before the Cup he said he will retire after it, so what is all the fuss abt a proper sendoff?

There was a large consensus among the general public that he would retire after the Cup, so y did he wait for Aamir Sohail to boot him out?

Who in Pak cricket is not political? He had his way? Well then go see the results under his captaincy too! Saqlain, Razzak everyone was at their best, now where are they??? On what grounds you say Wasim asked for it? His performance was better than any other player in the World Cup, as lonmg as he played, even at the age of 36 he was better than anyone else in the team. Whatelse that thing about match fixing? Well despite so called fixing he did better than anyother player Pak has ever produced. Yes, better than even Imran when it comes to winning matches single handedly! Didn't we take him for granted? Everytime Pak was in a tough situation we expected he'll win it for us, such were the expectations and when he was not able to do it, it was only because the match was fixed!

Aamir Sohail boot him out? Who is Amir Sohail? Is Aamir nothing but politics as well? And mind you Waqar rebelled against Wasim before Wasim did anything to Waqar, wasn't that politics too?

As for asking him to play a final farwel, well if the board was honest it could have asked him that privately right after the world cup before kicking the most talented player this country ever produced!
When Wasim was awarded the prize by Pepsi as a gratitude, Tauqir Zia was standing there, he didn't even have the guts to say thankyou to him for his services. I am glad Wasim didn't accept the offer, if he had many of you would have been saying right now what a low life looser he was for accepting that :-)

Enough said!

You should have seen Steve Waugh's send off or even Mark Waugh last year i think. Has any Pakistani player ever recieved even a formal Thankyou from PCB for their services?

By what you and few others on this board think does not mean the consensus among general public :-)

i never said nething abt his success as a player n captain. everyone knows he was the greatest bowler of his generation n a gd captain as well. n wat do u mean by "despite fixing he was the best.."?? Does that mean match fixer can play or lead the team as far as he himself is doing fine in most of the games?? Voww..

And yes Pak cricket is full of politics. Imran was its greatest exponent in the 80's n wasim was its greatest exponent in the 90's. N both were great players.

He himself said it numerous times that he would retire after the World Cup. Infact he also mentioned retirement numerous times before that during the last couple yrs of his career. So its not just the thinking of a few of us! :)

You forgot to read "so called" Mark Waugh was accused, so was Shane Warne no one ever objected when they played :-) As for leeting a match fixer play, if they had proof why they didn't ban him? He was aquitted of fixing in the Qayum inquiry, wasn't he? He was only punished for non-cooperation. If you haven't read the report go read again :-)

You wrote in your last post “There was a large consensus among the general public” and Wasim’s statements do not mean public opinion  Just because he talked about retirement doesn’t mean he set a date for retirement. Infact he has been talking about retirement since 1999

grow up . u really think they were fined because of non-co-operation?? n y would they not cooperate, when they had nothing 2 hide?? if they were convicted n banned as a result, what would the pakistani team look like. things r not just black n white, n u have to understand that. this can be a gd begininng! :)

there was a large consensus, unfortunately we cant go back in time to witness that again. n wasim said it numerous times as well. ofc he alwayz took back his statement but the retirement had to come some day.

as for makr waugh n shane, i do think they shd have been banned, althou in public all acb said is that they provided pitch n weather report or somethin like that-another attempt to hide the truth. we all know what happened dint we.
