Add to it that Razzler who looked totally listless under Waqar is suddenly back to his former self. Inflappible and totally dependable. I wonder how Waqar managed to do that to such good players. Must have taken an immense talent on his part to ruin the performance of Razzler.

I think one can conclude from this that a lot of the players from WC eleven didn't like playing under Waqar

But this shouldn't be an excuse of not performing in the WC. If they undermined Pakistan's integrity over personal issues with the captain, then shame on these players. I sympathize with Waqar on this.

Yeah I didn't meant it as an excuse for Waqar I was blaming him :)
The reason I like Shoaib Malik is the gist of this whole thread. He looks like someone who likes a battle. Some players you have in the side for their sheer talent, like Inzimam or Yoyo. But You have to have players with the Aamir Shohail and Miandad attitude as well for when the chips are down.
When Waqar took reins in his first tourney in Sharjah aprail 2001. He took a young team with him, won 4 out of 5 matches and the determination, team spirit, leading from the front, tactics, all things were there. He then captained the team in tour of England which was a success, specially the second test match, which is for me one of the sweetest win in the last decade. And in Natwest series he also had some great matches won, some innovative strategies applied , all worked. But unforutanatly everything wen downhill june 2000 afterwards
and later we all know.
When Moin khan took over, teasm wasn young but everythign went great from april 2000 till the Endland home oneday series. All fell apart later.
And Now Rashid has taken over with a young team, team spirit is there, commitment is there, obviusly a proper plan is being followed. But this time the main difference is that Seniors are NOT injured or sumthing and expectations are an all time low. So everything is going well so far. I m sure they will have more success but sustaining that success is a different thing altogether. And i hope Rashid and Miandad are able to do that :). A definite positive is the things Rashid is saying like maturing batsmen while chasing scores… Insha’allah things will go higher and higher.
