i usually refer to this site for any religious queries. If u scroll down to the bottom it lists animal halal and haram. Crabs on the list of haram. It goes by the hanafi mathab so im not so sure about the others. Just passing on the info incase anyone wants it =)

Well all I know is that I am a Sunni Muslim, so is crab haram then? :S

I am shocked too, I love crab meat it is soo sweet and tender LOL. It's something that I can live without ofcourse, but still I would wnat to know if it is haram or not. I don't want to do unnecessary ghuna:S

^ Haha if you are a Sunni then I guess you don't have anything to worry about. Sunnis eat crabs and prawns; some shia Muslims do not.

And Aisha crab rangoons are fried dumplings with cream cheese and crab meat.

But a crab rangoon does not even come close to crab soup.
