Re: The Poverty In Our Country...

going back to the original topic of the thread...
what do you suggest we can do to help the poor in pakistan?
i think education is very important - i would love to go to pakistan to teach the poor voluntarily. i've always wanted to organize a group of us to go there to help.

Re: The Poverty In Our Country...

As I am involved in a project where I have to go to distant parts of Punjab I am able to see poverty in a very close manner.. poverty was defined as - lack of access to basic nescessities of life and recently as lack of empowerment.. still lack to basic necessities of life rules in most parts of Pakistan.. masses are drinking water that is not clean.. houses without drainage.. solid waste littering all around them.. prices of basic commodities soaring high whereas gap between have and have-nots widening with every moment..

While one section of society involved in orgy of stocks, property files, financing cars and luxury goods whereas so many commiting suicides since they cant provide basic food to their family.. I was disturbed few days back reading a news item that a man killed his wife since she was fighting with him to bring some milk for their 6 month old baby who was crying for it.. his other 2 kids were crying for food too.. when he was killing her they tried to stop him saying they dont want food - just dont harm her.. the guy was so frustrated with poverty that he killed her and committed suicide.. dunno what happned to kids - newspaper never followed up that part.. i felt we r all involved in this tragedy.. everytime we overdo to show off in society we become killers..

Re: The Poverty In Our Country…

well i think the holes that SS has is basically grant people who dont deserve. but the homeless we see sometime can go to welfare and have a shelter or home for them. problem i guess is only they are illegel immigrants sometime even those get benefits.

it cant be compared to anyother country, specially pakistan , india or china.

For Pakistan, we cant get rid of overnight, need have massive planning and dedication to get rid of this poverty.

over spending where we need to cut, and under spending where we actually have to invest more, eg, education, healthcare, etc.
its also a case of wealth distribution and lack of employment near to poor areas.

we always set up every new company or industry in or around a big city, which drag people to leave their home and try to move to cities where they find more hard time to survive basically.
dont give money to people, just start investing in poor areas, will create jobs and hence prosparity slowly and steadly.
