– read today in the The World Trade Review that National Assembly was told that a total of 9,019 Pakistanis are presently imprisoned in the jails of 53 countries.
–Hundreds of Pakistanis have been killed, caught and smuggled over the months trying to get to Europe (Greece and Turkey in particular).
What should be the government’s role in this regard? Should our government intervene or leave these people to languish in the jails for years on..
I think the government should definately intervene.
But if the govt of Pakistan is going to get them out of the european country's jail and imprison them in a pakistani jail, then they are better off there.
The main reason that some of them left is to escape the troubles of life in Pakistan.
Some might be justified in wanting to leave, but for some it might just be the charm that the west holds.
In what aspect the govt should play a role would rest on the reasons why they are in jail in a foreign country.
