Re: The man who sold Pakistan
What’s getting really embarrassing and tedious is that these self confessed ‘liberals’ can write pages long essays pushing their shock horror doctrine forward on daily basis, yet none of their typically hyperbolic and meandering pieces would actual offer any ‘solution’, at all. It’s totally against their agenda, but still. They blame Imran for ‘confusing’ people, but it’s not like they have manage to provide any clear direction to the public. So much for being ‘liberal’, how many campaigns for anti terrorism legislation and initiatives these people have pushed for? None. I wonder why these ‘liberal’ never bothered throwing a tantrum about country not having a terrorism funding legislation, or any legislation to bring madarrassas under government control or ways to make FATA a truly Federal territory? Pseudo- intellectualism can get terribly boring and counter productive after a while. If only those who call themselves liberal in Pakistan had any idea what liberal values really are and how you fight for them. Constant mud-slinging, btching, tantrum throwing, moaning about a certain personality doesn’t count as liberal values, that’s called very ugly and lazy looking yellow journalism.
I think it’s funny how one crucial point is always missing from every consideration and debate is that why is there a market for Imran’s views? Forget Imran, why PMLN’s peace promise grabbed people’s attention? The party which actually enjoys 2/3 of majority has nothing to do with Imran and technically need no APC’s of any sort to make decision, but why are they going ahead with policies endorsed by Imran? Maybe people of Pakistan genuinely want peace, a bloodless end to this long war and return of normalcy. The warmongers have effectively tuned peace a dirty word, but say whatever, in four years time if PMLN says ‘dear Punjab, vote for us because we kept our darling province free of terrorist attacks’, Punjab will vote for them without a second thought. Perhaps some people really need to do their homework realise that People of Pakistan genuinely want peace and stability in the country. A total end to violence, ANP failed to do any of that and hence, they got beaten up quite badly by both fronts.
These journos can write countless articles on Imran to keep their bread and butter supply going, what else are they supposed to do? It’s an utterly humiliating for them to admit they have no access to military insight and information. When was the last time they managed to get hold an army personnel? Shouldn’t they be really ashamed about this? How on earth can you daydream about military operations when the military is no where to be seen? The same military that wouldn’t even bother talking you or even acknowledge the sentiments you constantly harp about ? Of course, in such joke of a situation, it makes perfect sense to use someone like Imran as a punching bag. These wannabe liberals should be very very glad that they are not spewing their filth in actual liberal country, if such damaging accusations were made against a public figure in the West, I can assure you that people like Cyril would’ve found themselves penny less on the streets.
Though I am not a “liberal” per se (don’t like or consume alcohol or worship BBZ) but I, like many others, can offer a solution to this impasse. Pity is that PTI won’t listen to it just like jiyalas don’t listen to logic but bhuttogic above everything else.
