Re: The life of Muhammed on the BBC!
But Psyah bhai, if they had focused too much on glorifying the Prophet saw, it would’ve looked like a very biased documentary. I also made the same comment earlier:
But I’m not unhappy with the way Prophet saw was portrayed in the documetary. You have a jew asking “how can a prophet order a massacre?” and you have a muslim responding to the question. They show a muslim guy cursing the jews and another muslim guy saying how appalling and unislamic this hate is. So it looks pretty unbiased to me though it does have flaws e.g. they don’t tell the story of Cave Thawr properly, they don’t mention the spiderweb at all but may be they didn’t think it was a significant thing that needed to be discussed in detail. There’s only so much you can cover in one episode.
As for this episode, it is bound to be controversional as it speaks of the various battles and the killing of the jews by the muslims. The jews who were interviewed in this documentary were understandably against this to the extent that they rejected the Madinah constitution saying it never existed. No constitution, no peace/loyalty agreement, no treason by the jewish tribe (who was ganging up with the Quraish against muslims and madinah) so no justification for their killing. And even if they were disloyal “he could’ve just banished them” they said but they don’t realise they would have then partnered up with the Quraish and that would’ve been the end of Madinah’s inhabitants. This is going to remain controversional forever so no surprises there.
Hareem, the episode that I’m after watching doesn’t speak of any of his marriages
Which documentary/episode are you referring to?
