Rather in fact it is very sad because there are political purposes at play here. It is a major folly of people who think that to "be chosen" means that we are given favours by God.

To become a Christian is to become the "bride of Christ" and will become royalty in heaven and rule over all races, including the Jews when He comes into His kingdom. There are three classes of people: Jews, Gentiles and the Christians. The Christians are made up of all races of men who become "born again" according to the bible. These are the people who will be most exalted in the kingdom. You can be as well, but you must believe that Jesus Christ is who the bible says He is.
The Jews (as a nation) still have a place in God's kingdom, but the ones living today need to accept Jesus Christ and become the bride of Christ. If you're referring to Africa, the reason for their poverty is due to satanism also called voodoo. They don't live by God's laws for the most part, which causes them to come to poverty. The United States was built on Christianity and loves God, which is why He blesses them. Now that many in the United States are turning away from the God of the bible, their wealth is being pumped out to it's enemies. I believe the God of the bible is doing this as a judgment for turning away from Him. He did the same thing to the Jews when they turned to other gods.
As far as the land goes, God promised that land to the Jews. They are His chosen race because that is the race that the Savior of the world Jesus Christ would come through. He is going to rule and reign from Jerusalem in the Jewish temple when it is rebuilt.
