The reason I started this thread was to focus on this serious issue.
It is indeed a growing problem in society - if you live in London or in the UK for that matter - there is an increasing trend where girls/guys are becoming more westernised and getting highly influenced from MTV, Chav/Rude Boy/Rap groups, sikhni/hindu gals as well as some goriyan.. (not trying to generalise or be sterotypical but they are the main cause or root of the problem!)
I went to a good university and meet loads of people from all walks of life - (school leaves, degree holders, master grads etc) and I can say this culture seems to stem from people that did not go onto a-levels or sixth form. They have developed this mesh culture of asian/western culture. Its like they are lost or do not know right from wrong.. I personally would never like my children to grow up like that. What happened to class, intellectual and modern girls of the 21st century.. Ive meet many from other cultures/religions but sadly very few Pakistani girls...
^ ahem sorry I got terribly warped into that, composes self. I am going say - and I am sure I will be corrected, but it's a social and parental upbringing issue. Alot of Pakistani parents, are consumed with the money driven/job mentality - aka too busy making the biggest khote back in Pak (thas the punjabi word for house not cardi, this isn't the knitting Olympics) and also blindly turning an eye away from what their kids are getting up to, with the mentality of - khe aakyeh muraa hei, followed by cheesy smile (that's not fooling anyone) and overall no attention to educating their children/helping with homework/talking to them about any problems at school/making sure they actually attend/make them develop a passion to succeed = complete yobs
Coupled with the fact some these mannerisms have been adapted from the multi-cultural society we live in - aka chavs, African British, etc its inevitable (I am not trying generalise or be racist, so I apologise in advanced)
I would also throw the Mirpuri culture into that too. Azad Kashmiris are worse than Punjabis.. well in my area.
But I agree another root of the problem is the PARENTS! I think when they arrived in this country they did not mesh into the gora culture and stuck with their own. Possibly due to racism or fear of turing into a gora and becoming like them? But they did not know how to teach their children - so what happens we go into a negative spiral.. parents cant teach their children because they can not relate to them.. children break away from Pakistani upbringing... children dont know how to explain their problems to their parents because parents did not or absorb the gora way of thinking...
Teenagers (girls) go through many different phases before they adjust into one, geek phase, tomboy phase, yo man phase, snow white phase, eastern shy girl phase, western bold girl phase, goth phase .. and many more.

Hang on a second, you believe the parents are to blame for not 'meshing' into Western culture?
Yet, you are all ants in knickers over the children being influenced by Western culture?

You are generalizing and being stereotypical. Be open to diverstity - it is here to stay. And we all will be better for it.

Sigh. The amount of times i've seen mirpuris being slagged off. I'm 'mirpuri' and dont fall into your category of being an innit girl. Nor do many of the other mirpuris i know. I dont know where you live but from your narrow minded judgements of my lot i'd say you havent really lived much at all. And to each their own, i dont particularly like the innit crowds but i doubt they care:p. They're not bothering me, so why be bothered about them.

Well in my community Mirpuri are the root of several problems.. I have people that work in the Met as well as local communities.. maybe its better in your community.
All I wanted to portray was we need to educate our youth to become more intellectual, modern and keep their islamic roots..
I was in my local shopping mall (not a famous one just the local traffic!) and I could not help realise how many British Pakistani girls there were that had the chav mentality. The "slap" (heavy makeup) across their face and girls far from their roots... lol They seem to have the rude-boy boyfriends hanging off their shoulders or straggling behind complimented behind.
Seriously, what the hell is going on in this society?
this is called "Kawwa chala hans ki chaal, apni b bhoola" :D
