The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

ROADRUNNER

it seems to me that you ignored the link i provided for u above here it is again

http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?HD=7&ID=5849&CATE=3600

this gives u a clear interpretation of what the above mentioned verse means. This is not based on some scholars OPINION but it actually tells you the meaning of the Arabic scripture by breaking it down for you.

You can remain in denial all you want and make up your own interpretations but the fact remains…the Hijab is obligatory upon muslim women! whether you do it or not is up to you.

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

^^ You explain to me in your own words why it is obligatory. Simply, nothing complicated. I've seen many different websites. If you want me to read something, explain to me in your own words which part of which Arabic word means cover, and which part means hair. If you do this, I will bother to read what you write. Until then, Goodbye!

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

It's quite simple.....

"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms..."

a veil is a headcovering...is it not? when an american bride wears a veil....she wears it on her head correct? the headcoverin a nun wears on her head is called a veil as well.

women used to cover their heads with what was called a "veil" around the time the above verse was revealed...except they didnt cover their necks and "bossoms"(as mentioned in the link i posted for u) thereforein this above verse it was mentioned to "draw the veils over their bossoms".

In this verse there is mention of this very same "veil"...a headcovering....why make it so difficult?

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

Puchu Kuchi Muslimahs like you, are protectors of this blessed deen.
Keep it up and never give up!

May Allah be pleased with you. Ameen.

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

What is the Arabic word used for veil here? And which part of it means veil "as in headcovering"?. Let's assume it does say veil, what is the Arabic word that means veil here?

Wow! Your knowledge is so impressive..not.. Simply put, answer this. What is the Arabic word in there that means veil? Translate it literally and tell what the root meaning of this word is. Find me where it says head or face or even veil. I think you'll find it says "cover".

Where does it say veil as in a headcovering? Find the word and translate it. I know you can do it, you seem adamant.

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

I simply can't understand why people can't respect each other's choices on the matter. I know people who wear hijab really look down upon those who don't, and that's pretty unIslamic to me. If you're not perfect, don't judge others, and I'm pretty sure not one of us here is perfect. Everyone has their own thoughts on the issue, and I'm annoyed that this thread was even opened with the topic was going on elsewhere. There was just no need.

I agree with roadrunner on how this thread is nothing more than manipulation. The whole "Well do what you want, but this is fardh". La la la la. Its another way of guilt-tripping people into doing something they don't believe in. And like for the 100th time, I am telling you there are more important problems to focus on out there than whether women wear hijab or not. Spend your time focusing on that instead of these senseless issues that breed nothing but discord among us.

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

Why is head covering so important to some in projecting modesty as dictated by Allah? Some find women with head covering actually more attractive, especially for women with thin, unattractive hair. Covering of the hair can actually emphasize some of their more attractive features (eyes, lips, etc).

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

Then that just defeats the purpose? Although I agree, with some people, it makes them look really beautiful.

Re: The importance of Hijaab for Muslimahs

Your heart is in the right place PK, but your mind needs to start thinking on it's own and not get spoon fed by these 'scholarly' opinions..

Islam today is a cult.. Accept blindly whatever is being propagated as religion and you become a member and enjoy the benefits of it's membership.. i.e. they have mercy on you and not call you a kaaafir or kick you out of the circle of Islam..

Have an open mind and be intelligent enough to try and decipher things for yourself and u'd have the whole crowd chanting death threats to you or your loved ones.. It's mob rule by a few scholars and their minions who couldn't understand a single verse of the Qur'an if left to themself.

So leaving aside 'the opinion of the scholars' the rule being clarified in these verses is to cover the chest/cleavage. All else is determined by "what (must ordinarily) appear thereof" .. so ordinarily you'd have your hands, or your feet or face/head/hair visible but of course you'd wear some clothes to cover your torso and legs.

Quite simple and practical and very universal don't you think?
