Re: The herbs ...
YES. They are disgusting. What are they doing in the house!? Evil creatures, leaving their slime everywhere.
Re: The herbs …
I know , I hate them too … specially the slimey bit ..buaaah  … I usually get hubby to deal with them , I cant go close to them … I have been searching for slug control spray.. to keep them away .. you know like that mouse control tablets …
Re: The herbs ...
I haven't got around to planting in my garden yet (actually waiting for Dad's helping hand). But at my parents home they have a balcony, in which my Dad grows the following in pots:
Green chillies
Tomatoes
Methi(Fenugreek)
Mint
Corriander
Green beans (he's experimented with various typs - all work)
Basil
Thyme
The mint and corriander really are great for chutnies.
Re: The herbs ...
Tiger , do you guys live in the UK?
Nothing works other than slugs bait sold at garden stores , do not waste your money on any other method. I have tried and tested all other methods. They are all urban legends.
Re: The herbs …
ohhh no really Mirch  do they like eat up all the plants and shrubs then? :hinna:
Aahaa…finally, the culprit. And is that one of my carrots that you are so happily chomping???..I knew it:bailan:
I’ve also got a grapevine growing…admittedly from next door again. But the grapes are so sweet and I used them in fruit chaat last Ramzaan.
Any tips on growing coriander?..mine is soo sparse:(
I looove carrots, so crunchy.
Do your neighbours know your stealing their grapes? ![]()
Re: The herbs ...
My parents gardened for a bit when we were little.
I think I want to grow some things too:
Cilantro
Mint
Basil - although no one aside from me uses this in my family
Tomatoes
Green chilliles
Bell peppers
Eggplant
Zuchini
Broccoli
Its snowing here still but when it gets better, I think we will start planting. My mom will probably get large pots for the herbs so they dont get crazy.
Re: The herbs …
Reha ,
you are gonna grow all of that stuff ? thats like , alot
… you gotta start with teeny weeny stuff like maybe mint and corriander and then start with serious stuff like bell peppers , egg plant and rest of the stuff ![]()
They eat seedlings for sure and roots of many plants.
Re: The herbs …
Oh no  … I guess i will be seeking your expert advise Mirch , in about two months time when i start growing stuff in my garden , inshallah :hinna:
Re: The herbs ...
You think its a lot? Okay, maybe herbs only to start and maybe some chillies and tomatoes?
Re: The herbs ...
CB, if you think Reha's list was long I won't post mine.x
Honestly, there’s nothing to it.
She planted the “cuttings” which included the roots. The plants were perennials - so that even after cutting the plants down (obviously leaving the roots in the ground) and a harsh winter they would sprout back up the next spring. She usually planted the cuttings in a shaded area. But like I said, the plants have such hardy roots, that they spread pretty quickly. Aside from regular watering, (not too damp) she didn’t even bother to use pesticides.
Hope that helps!

Field mice and other small animals LOVE peppers (both chilli and bell). It used to drive my mother, an avid gardener - bonkers. The peppers would just about be ripe enough to harvest and the little buggers would have already swiped the vegetables. She's given up on her vegetable garden and now she just plants flowers.
