Sorry to hear that you have warned Evil. I am solidly behind you. You have my moral support:)

How do you manage to find these old threads anyway?:)

If it is the same thread that I am thinking of, then it did have useful background information on GupShup.....I hope it wasn't my post after yours that got you into trouble:)

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

emm,

I respect the sentiment behind your question, however, being the intelligent person that you are, I expect a bit better from you.

In answer to your question: No. I am not going to be warned.
Why? Not because I am above the law (although like it or not, that can be the case sometimes around here) but because there is a purpose behind me reviving this thread.

I have a project on my plate that involves the writing of GupShup History. The thread is valuable to me from that respect and reviving it put it on top so that I could quickly find it again this morning. (Btw, thanks for keeping it on top.) I’ve now copy/pasted the url and won’t need it sitting here anymore. Last night it was merely time constraints that kept me from doing this. Check the time that I posted.

Anyhow…I’m not going to even begin to address the rest of the bukbuk that you have carried on with in your later posts about people not being fair here hence not being fair in real life and about finding another place on the net to hang out. Believe what you wish and do what you wish, I have no desire to convince you otherwise; elephants don’t swat at gnats.

Take care.

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

You sure don't mince your words Muzna:)

Take it or leave it.

I am no expert on GupShup but perhaps if there was a clearly defined policy on bringing up old threads (if not already in place) then it may avoid any confusion and bitterness.

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

I 2nd that:snooty:

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

Normally I can be quite easy going arshad, but when it comes to matters like this I like to be clear. No confusion, no misunderstandings. People may not like what I have to say but that does not stop me from saying it. It’s a hard pill to swallow, not only for them, but for me as well because it paints a picture of me that I don’t want published, however, necessity demands it.

In response to your second comment, I agree. If reviving old threads has become such a big issue that a policy needs to be written to address it, then those that feel this way should promptly send a message to either Admin or to ehsan, the Director of this forum. I’m sure that due diligence will be done.

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

Thanks for explaining.

However I don't know if anyone is going to ask for a policy to be adopted in regards to old threads. However good management would dictate that problems are tackled before they even become problems. With rules people understand where they stand....and if they fall foul of the rules then they have not got a leg to stand on....and will not argue. Leadership does require you to be decisive and firm but leadership also requires fairness. You need to carry people with you unless it conflicts with interests of the organisation.

Re: The Grand Gupshup Annual Meeting

arshad saheb,

This is the first that I've heard about an issue with reviving old threads...and you can see that my instant response is to suggest that the director address it with a policy.

Unfortunately I don't have the kind of visibility our moderators have of pressing issues within the forum. Until and unless it is brought up as an issue, we tend to let these hard-working, dedicated foot soldiers call the shots when and how they deem fit. When we assign them to the rank of moderator, we place a great deal of trust in their ability to make these calls and if one or more of them were to come to ehsan with a need for a policy on reviving old threads, then it would surely be done. Otherwise, I see no need to have already heavily tasked volunteers spin cycles, be they directors, admins or moderators.
