So back to the topic. Why are they calling it God particle ? What it has to do with answering the question about how this universe was created ? I tried but did not find any plain English explanation of why is it called God particle ?
One article said : “The Higgs boson has nothing to do with God. It was simply a snappy term to illustrate the ubiquitous effect of the Higgs field, and its importance in determining mass.”

If it is true then why it is still called God particle ?

I think the idea is that if you can create something from nothing (i.e., smashing these particles & creating mass) than it supports 2 ideas:

1. it would support the concept of big bang (big bang created the universe)
2. it would prove that you can create something from nothing (mass from energy)

Since we know energy has always existed & we can conclude how the universe was created.

Btw, I’m not sure if that would prove/dis-prove existence of God.
