Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

For the money, by the money…

https://www.fastcompany.com/40507541/amid-net-neutrality-debate-biggest-isps-spent-at-least-26-3-million-on-lobbying

Three of the largest internet service providers and their trade association have spent at least $26.3 million on lobbying the federal government since April 1–about $1.12 for every public comment filed with the government on a repeal of net neutrality rules, according to a MapLight analysis.
The battle over net neutrality shapes up as another defeat for Americans, who have been outmuscled by corporate money in the nation’s capital on issues ranging from climate change to healthcare. Ajit Pai, the former Verizon lawyer-turned-FCC head, announced last month that the commission would vote on a proposal to eliminate net neutrality at a Thursday (Dec. 14) meeting.

Between 2008 and early 2017, the three big internet providers–Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T–and their trade organization, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, had spent $572 million lobbying federal lawmakers on subjects that include net neutrality. Through early July, about 5.6 million public comments had been registered with the FCC.

Never Mind!

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

As always, a trump fan bend over backwards to distract the fundamental issue towards something else and trying to prove that an executive coming from Verizon sitting next to two millionaire senators has only done blessings for a common man.

And as I said in other thread, once I realize someone is not ready to open their mind, I get away from them cuz then its a waste of time.

Ofcourse the facts will be presented for those who “want to” understand.

And yea tomorrow if someone in US cant access GS, plz do call and thank Ajit Pai (and his fan Sind Sagar here) for doing the courtesy

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

what I gathered from “This article” was that it may affect high volume traffic like Netflix and YouTube!

GS people not to worry right?, now SID_NY is blowing smoke ! :sunnyboy:

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

I mean, if you truly read the article that wouldn’t be the conclusion you came up with. However, I don’t think your judgement is all that great anyways considering the thoughts you shared about these things.

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

i’ve had enough. it is something everyday undermining freedom and liberty, and calling it freedom and liberty. Straight out Orwellian tactics.

Today’s gem - Trump administration has banned the CDC from using a bunch of words - including “science-based.” How can they even do this, let alone do it so boldly?

For me personally, i’m fed up. Time to start looking at setting up a plan B. Cant sit around anymore saying all will be fine. This looks like the future trajectory of this gerrymandered nation.

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

Dude, Mexicans lost more jobs than anyone else. Their central occupation of corn farming was devastated overnight by crappy cheap corn from Iowa. Before NAFTA, there were a few dozen varieties of corn. Now all you get is one - sweet corn - because that is what can be grown in middle USA for cheap using mechanized farming, subsidized by taxpayer $$$ no less. Mexico saw a big wave of poverty from NAFTA just from this one single item.

NAFTA has given US auto industry a lifeline, despite how terribly run these companies are. By shipping the product two dozen times between US and Mexico, they manage to pay their lazy US employees who barely work and sit around in unions demanding lifelong pensions on the back of their Mexican employees.

Look at Chuck Grassley’s ideas on NAFTA. You dont get more Republican than Grassley. He knows if NAFTA is repealed, Iowa is done for. Check with the Republican leaders in Texas who benefit the most from NAFTA auto policies. The only guys who think NAFTA took away jobs are the ones who dont understand how automation has replaced humans on the assembly line in almost every manufacturing plant that existed in the 80s. Dont fall for Trump’s or Bannon’s rhetoric on this.

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

This pretty much sums up for any republican especially Trump fan. I cant repeat enough how much the word “ignorant” defines them. Take any issue: From climate to slavery to controlling money via ISPs. They just arent even close to understanding the **logic **behind anything. They pick one line and keep repeating on it, and follow the same pattern over and over.

I would say just wait for 2-3 years afterwhich the “hunger games” become the reality. Unfortunately once it starts, everyone is going to be a part of it. Um..may be with the exception of few billionaires

Re: The FCC Has Voted to Kill Net Neutrality

This entire administration is such a joke. Like, each and every thing that comes out of it looks like it would be in a parody.
