The Crusaders Outflanking Manoeuvres

Re: The Crusaders Outflanking Manoeuvres

Except that didn’t happen.

Portugal lost control of it Northern Indian ports to the Marathas in 1739, but it kept its biggest lands in India until 1961.
Portugal kept its biggest lands in Africa until the 1950s
Portugal was expelled from Persia by the Persian Shah Abbas who allied with the East India Company to get British ships to ferry his army to the Portuguese forts and bombard down their walls.

Dr Ali Salabi certainly seems to want to rewrite history , either that or he is ignorant of basic facts.

He was 12 years old when Portugal lost Mozambique, its ports in East Africa, to the Mozambique independence movement, and yet claimed that the Omanis did this!

The Omanis took some ports along east Africa and a few in India, but that was far from all.

Not to mention that the British never fought against Oman as Dr Salabis implied.

The bombardments were against one of Oman’s successor states - one Sultan, when dying, gave the Omani part of his land to one son as the Sultanate of Oman, and the African parts to his other as the Sultanate of Zanzibar. It was Zanzibar, not Oman, which was attacked by the British.
