i’m just posting the link. Article is quite long. Should you choose to do so, read it at your leisure.
Please don’t turn this thread into a bashingof ANY country. i am sick and tired of the usual finger-pointing. We’ve all got sufficient mistakes inside ourselves. No bashing, i mean it.
i just wanna say - we’re ALL culpable in this. It’s not the Amreekans, the Brits, the gorays. It’s all of us - it’s the Pakistanis, the Sri Lankans, the Bangladeshis. Anytime that a child is denied access to medical treatment for removing a bullet stuck in his friggin head, then that’s an indictment on me, you, and our families. This is the epitome of our civilized 21st century world, i suppose. The mass consumerism, the globalization, the glass skyscrapers vying with each other to be the tallest in the world, the technology, the visits to Mars, the nuclear weapons we are oh-so-proud-of [yes i am referring to Pakistan in the latter] none of it means $hit as long as we have children who are suffering in the manner above. No child should have to go through that. It’s totally unjustifiable. How would we react if he was our brother?
and to sprout the usual sensible nonsense, Baqer isnt the only child suffering without anyone to help him. He infact, might have more of a chance than the millions of children that go by without anyone to even know they're there.
There might not be any infrastructure to help people like Baqer, but there do exist organisations to aid children elsewhere. Since it does begin at home, take Pakistan.
My suggestion would be to pick one that would benefit the most from your (presumably minor..) contribution. I know a place in pakistan that could do an year's work for a child, with my everyday lunch money. Whenever you're angry at the world for not doing enough, channel that..make yourself do something.
Nadia does do her part to help, the world is a ****ty place, do what you can to make it better on a personal level. Want make a large difference make money and go from the inside. Without organization 1,000 strong people will always be more effective than 10,000 weak, and so it continues.
