OMG I so wanted to read these books of Munshi Prem Chand, but needed a review before I put my hands on these books. Munshi's some short stories were part of our syllabus including 'Hajj e Akbar', but that seemed quite preachy. What is special about 'Gao Daan' and 'Gaban'.
Re: The Books you read again & again
Both are story of tragedy, his books are preachy generally set at the backdrop of poverty of Hindustani region of 20s, Gaban is story of a munshi’s attepmt of forgery and his escape to calcutta, Similarly Gordan is about another tragic story set up in rural village and deals with rural psyche, his most magnificent work but I would recommend Gaban before Godan :k:
Re: The Books you read again & again

No he hasn't, even though he was BA English from Oxford, he wrote in Hindi, Madhushala has fatwa against it. Madhushala means wine-house or Bar. His poetry is sanskritized just like what I feel for Ghalib as I miss the core word in the sentence. But we can have thread in this section I can write his short poems in roman Hindi:)

Yes please proceed. I would love to read his poetry as I observed that he has written something Hat ke from what I heard from Amitabh Bacchan.
Re: The Books you read again & again
The Great Gatsby. I've read it so much I know a lot of the dialogue by heart lol my favourite quotes from the book :
"a single green light, minute and faraway that might have been the end of a dock."
" It eluded us then, but that’s no matter.tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms further ... and then one fine morning
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past."
