Re: The Bob Woolmer interview

I am not taking anything away from what Bob has acheived in this team. You can say that Shoaib Malik has polished or matured. He did play under Javed and I believe performed really well. Miandad helped Mohammad Yousuf and Saeed Anwar with his coaching skills. Wasim and Inzimam also helped themselves under Javed’s advice just like they did under other Pakistan’s great. No problem with him as a teacher because he inspires kids in Pakistan. Most of the team considers him as a role model. So the love is there. Inzi never had a problem with Javed as a coach rather than it was Shoaib.

I think in '99 Pakistan were the favourites and Miandad had a great hand in making them the favourites. He altough wasn’t the coach of the actual World Cup team so you can blame it on Wasim or the coach of that time. Take your pick I won’t. Superstars have their own dilemmas and its not easy to handle especially the ‘Superstars of Pakistan’. Any success he got is because of superstars and what Pakistan is achieveing is because of Bob?

Has he outplayed him or not is still yet to be seen just like your theory of younger the better. The older have experience and maturity, that’s just the other part of the picture. I will say if he does I’ll be the first one to admit it. The team loves him good for him, the team never had a problem with previous coaches did they?

About the lingo, ok over here there people talk and act like that its no big deal. With all the match fixing and stuff that have went on, Pakistan has embarrassed itself enough.

Re: The Bob Woolmer interview

ehasan I DID see the celbrations, but it was because they won the matches, there was no interest initially. does that mean that the english people are : roandu'z: jeet gaye tau khush warna shun the game completely?

Re: The Bob Woolmer interview

^ Not necessarily true. England's ashes triumph has bought a new craze to this country. Not to say that Cricket wasn't followed like so in the past. A lot of people have started taking interest in cricket here. Kids have started playing cricket on a regular basis, which itself is quite an achievement as, before the ashes, people were of the view that cricket is a boring GRANDAD'S game.

Fan following with England has never been an issue, even when England use to lose a lot, the barmy army still travelled with the side to various different countries and they continue to do so.

Test matches have always had a capacity crowd even before the ashes. Now compare this turnout to the turnout we get in Pakistan. When we play back home we let school kids in free, that's how desperate things are now.

Re: The Bob Woolmer interview

That's true, test cricket is in a sorry state of affairs in Pakistan. Hopefully things will change in the upcoming series.
