Re: The Bob Woolmer interview
Woh to may tokka maal laha tha lekin thakka lag gaya. Oooh yes. Eloquent indeed. ![]()
Man With a Plan and Klub123. Its not about being gora pujari.
If you guys remember well till last year Bob was being booed off by half the nation. If it was anybody else he woulda just quit and left. Bob stuck through and in just a couple of series has made the team into a fighting unit once again the likes of which we havent seen since the 92 WC win. He has helped polish and groom the likes of Shoaib Malik (our version of dravid) and Rana. He’s even managed to tame Afridi and control his unhinged cricketing power that Miandad had no clue how to properly harness. Best of all he has an excellent rapport with Inzamam which is one of the most important requirements of a succesful team. And finally… you may not agree on this.. but he has helped weed out the Pakistan team’s biggest ever liability.. yes you guessed it. Show-ape Actor. He’s kept him in check and that alone has helped keep the whole team’s morale on the higher side.
So now that people have seen all this, his methods bearing fruit already, they are starting to like him. Its not gora pujari.
When Miandad was around our team was rolling on star power and thats why it was the favourites going into the WC. But look what happened.. the favourites fell flat on their face and havent been able to lift themselves up till last year. The team Bob’s been handed is not star power but will power. They fight till they perish.
the_paindoo said best, its not necessary the best player in the world is the best coach. If youve been to university you would have noticed the best professors are the younger ones. The older more experienced professors (who are usually heads of dept etc) are the lousiest teachers. They cannot teach if their life depended on it. Similarlay Miandad, who is one of the world greatest players no doubt, unfortunately isnt the world’s best coach. To coach you need a real coach, not a batsman.
You have to be realistic here. Woolmer has outplayed Miandad in every way possible. And its not for us to decide. The team loves him.. and thats all that matters.
Sincerely,
Captain Lota
PS: Sorry Ehsan bhai but i think its interesting to have a Woolmer vs Miandad head to head. Its very related to his interview too.
