The biggest Chump

If you guys don't agree with Ehsan bhai, then list player who you think proved to be "THE CHUMP", clearly Ehsan bhai thinks he is "The Chump" of this particular test match.

I would say Saqlain. He didn't bowl half as decent as Sehwag or Sachin.

I think the title should be held together by
Imran Farhat, Taufeeq Umar, Sami, Saqlain

The two specialist batmsen couldn't stand up to be counted, scored a combined score of 94 in 2 innings as well as poor fielding.

That's exactly my view as well. I'm sick of the sight of this loser since the day he was out-bowled by the Bengali left arm spinner then pointed towards the pavilion by him. Remember Rafique giving him the smoking guns signal after bowling him out? Pathetic.

IMO, our biggest chump in the first test was Inzamam as a captain. Once India had made 675, the game was pretty much over. Contrast to Dravid who is always thinking on the field and trying new and new things, Inzi is just a lazy dud who is going through the motions. The field placings were unimaginative and the bowling changes were stale.

Yea yea... victory has many fathers - defeat is an orphan. But whatever the outcome, Inzi is such an uninspiring captain.

I wonder why you picked him as a trump. A losing captain's batting does get affected, sooner or later. I think Inzi is gonna be out-of-form soon.

Faisal, we all know Inzi as a captain sucks big time, and any victory that we have seen under him is due to individual brilliances not due to captain's intelligence in fielding/bowling changes/tactics etc. So to consider him as "chump" for this test match would mean that he was great or good captain in previous matches, I don't think that is true.

He is still a good batsman, who is comfortable against both pace and spin bowlers, and is capable of really big scores. Nothing to take away from his batting, ofcourse.

Its his captaincy, which is so annoying. Just like Man of the Match... where you select one player who stood out in the match; it doesn't mean that player sucked before the match. Its just that, he played well in that match. Inzi has probably never shone as a good captain (I had not really seen him live on TV during a Test captain before this match), and based on records, in this match he fell to new lows, especially because he could not come up with any plan along his bowlers to get the Indians out.

Our bowlers are professional enough to land the balll where they actually want, and it is a captain's job to have proper field-placing and then make sure that the bowlers bowl according to the field. That was the single biggest thing lacking in this match, which allowed India to run away with the match.

Le tme jump in here. I dont think we can all Sami as chump. Tell me one test match where players dont drop catches but not all of those batsmen go on to make 300. It is part of game and it happens. One cannot be call chump for dropping one catch. Ehsan bhai :nook:

I think biggest chump has to be either Saqlian or Shoib. I will stick with Shoib. Saqlain was making a comeback and we knew that he might not do well. But Shoib should have delivered. On a wicket on which a newbies like Irfan Pathan bowled so well,I expect Shoib to do much better. Right from begining on series we all knew that for Pakistan to have any chance in this test series Shopib will have to shine. Unless I dont see Pakistan bowling Indian twice in one match.

His performance was very bad considering that he is among top 3 bowlers of world these days.

There are catches and there are catches but the catch which cost us over 250 runs, does not matter in your opinion. If Shewag had gone at that stage the game might have changed. Remember you have to look at it from the point of view of what happened after that, not start saying how many others made 300. The fact is 309 were made by Shewag and he was dropped at 68. Look at the facts.

Ehsan bhai,
As I said Catches are dropped in every match and not that bastmen score 309 in every match. You cant blame that one catch for those 250 runs. Blame should go on every bowlers. By the way isnt it that 6 catches of Sehwag were dropped. Why single out this one.

Talking about what happened after that is trivial because if that had happened people would have played differently. Can you guarantee me that if Sehwag goes for less run in next match then Dravid will go for 9 runs again. You just cant.

Therefore Chumps cannot be selected based on one catch. You are being a bit irrational here which is very rare for you. :D

You need to look at the facts and get away from what would have happened. All I am trying to say is that this particular dropped catch cost us very dear, and for that reason in my opinion for this test only, Sami is the chump.

Ehsan Bhai,

I have to agree with f & b on this one, and I would divide the chumps trophy between, saqlain who gave away 200 plus runs and also didnt bat and Shoaib who being the spearhead bowler could not manage even a single wicket.

That is fine Aejaz. Everyone has his chump. Mine is Sami, your is Saqlain. No problem.
