Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

MY sister is planning to keep Jabriel name for her baby boy IA ...WE all loved this name .but some people say its very heavy name .....Guys need your opinion about it.

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

I feel the same as well...I prefer Gabriel

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

I read some where that jabriel, mekiel are names of angles and Muslims are not supposed to keep these names

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

^ nope, its allowed. i looked into it prior to naming my son Gabriel. we felt Jibrael/Jibreel was too heavy so we opted for Gabriel.

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

How do you know that a certain spelling is heavy? :O

I do like the Gabriel spelling though

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

its not the spelling, its the pronounciation. Jibrael/Jibreel with the J as in Juice vs. Gabriel with the G sound as in Good.

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

Really, i thought both would be pronounced as 'J' jibrael/gibriel.
And by heavy do you guys mean like it will effect child in future, like i've heard people say naam bhaari hona type thing?

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

^ no, no, i just meant purely as a sound-thing.
and no, Gabriel is the English version of Jibrael/Jibreel, so the pronounciation is different in both cases. Like Michael and Mekaeel/Mikyle, or Raphael/Rafael and Israfeel. I believe those are the three angel names in Islam.

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

^^^ aaah thanks for explaining SGC

Re: Baby boy's name Jabriel!!!!

The correct pronunciation is Gibril (Jibreel).

Re: rhyming names for twin girls

Can anyone tell me the meaning of the name Abeeha? Online it comes up as mother of her father and that our prophet (pbuh) use to call his daughter (Fatima) Abeeha, but I asked an imam and he said there is no such reference in Islam where the prophet (pbuh) called his daughter that. Is there any meaning to this name at all? I was told it means permissible and that it's a word rather than a name? Help appreciated.

Re: rhyming names for twin girls

how do you spell the word in Urdu/Arabic/Persian?
