Re: The 6 Day War: Greatest miltary victory?
He is right in a sense. Majority of the israeli weapons were french in origin at the onset of the israeli war. Although, there were western “friendlies” that helped out israel unofficially.
I think what Israel did [combining good weapons with superior tactics] is kind of what happened to IDF when it was at the receiving end of hezbollah last summer. For example, israel completely jammed arab communications in overflights and the egyptians flew blindly. Egyptians learned somewhat from it when the 3-wave air attack of israel [successful in 67] wasn’t very successful in 1973. Egyptian SAMs were a big surprise for israel as well when it lost around 180 jets in the war.
I don’t know one can equate afghanistan to vietnam? Vietnam, as someone pointed out, defeated french and bested the americans. Afghans were heavily subsidized by the americans and arabs but still they had no unity. Vietnamis used to make weapons from discarded american shells for example, unlike afghans which dismantled running Mil-24s within few hours. I think lot of paki perception has to do with the propaganda that was fed in the eighties. We should have gotten kashmir as well going by that propaganda. :halo:
