Re: Thanksgiving Bird

Will fry a turkey, have been doing so for last 5 years.

Taking advantage of the restaurants open for Turkey day. Screw cooking.

Re: Thanksgiving Bird

Oil less fried Turkey, Chicken Tikka masala used for rub.

Thanksgiving Bird

For my thanksgiving spread this year I had 1 Cajun Fried Turkey, 3 roast chickens and a pot roast

Re: Thanksgiving Bird

That is a lot for one person.

You’re right, except it was for 50 people

That looks yum. Mirch Bhai do you mind sharing the recipe?

Re: Thanksgiving Bird

I do not mind at all:
I bought this turkey from local store it was about 12 lbs.

Started defrosting it in fridge section of our fridge/freezer on Sunday because we wanted to make it on Friday.

On Wednesday it was defrosted completely so injected this seasoning and put it back in the fridge.

On Thursday I rubbed Shan Tikka masala. and put it back in fridge.

On Friday we had told the guests that we will start dinner at 7PM. So at 5PM I put the turkey in the this oil
less fryer:

The cook time is 10 minutes per pound for this infra red fryer therefore turkey was ready at 7. I used thermometer to check the temperature as directed. It was perfect. So moist juicy and right amount of mirch masala. around 6:30PM I sprayed it with PAM butter flavored spray. Which gives it butter flavor and nice color and shine.
The result you have seen above.
I have been doing this for last 5 years. We do not know many people here so we make one turkey. But for couple of years we had to make two because of number of guests who started asking to be invited to our Thanksgiving dinner.

Re: Thanksgiving Bird

^ Thanks for sharing Mirch. I am definitely going to try his next year.

We invited 7 families (plus ours), so did about 6 chickens.

Awesome. Thank you so much for writing it in such detail. Definitely trying this recipe. Probably won’t even wait for next year.
