Thank you America for aid package to Pakistan

Because the lifting of trade sanctions helped Pakistan to increase its export.

Of course. But that would apply to any country. Pakistan is an export oriented economy. We need access to large export markets, and US is the largest of them all. The point is American sanctions would hurt any economy on this planet and there is no point in singling Pakistan out. Sanctions do not provide level playing field and its unfair to judge Pakistan's economy based on that.

compared to what we did, are doing and prolly will do for them, this is peanuts...but i think its our beghariti we are even taking anything from them...

i think we should just break it with them...we dont need their 'help' and we should not be helping them either...

They'll pursue their objective with or without Pakistan. We just have to make sure our interests aren't damaged. If they're paying for it, fine. No begherati. Emotions dont have a role at that level. Read some book on the working of CIA to get an idea. I recommend "The Secret Wars of the CIA: 1981-87" by Bob Woodward.

CP: The point I am trying to get across is that the recent economic growth is not a miracle done by dictator or his cohorts, the main reason is war against terrorism.

How are teh GRE studies coming along?:)

Pakistan doesn;t have a choice. You can say yeah or nay, if you have a choice.

 Bro why say this for. I swear and i give you my word that even if you get the most powerful weapons of world yous would not be able to bring a metre of change in our land. And those 80 Proud Paki Soldiers died in only two days fighting with small groups of almighty TRIBESMEN. Imagine having the WHOLE Tribes turining over you people, man i am pretty sure yous would run upto Bangladesh.

You fool , do you know who you are talking to? This is an Indian you are talking to. He has nothing to do there. Indians are your enemy too! You should be thankful to Allah, you do not have a border with them. and quit this unIslamic nationalism of yours!

Shawaiz firstly it isnt aid. Aid means you dont pay it back. The 3 billion dollar package we got is a loan. Pure and simple. We have to pay it back. The short term benefits are negated by the longer term debt and debt repayment we will have.

As for debt relief it may increase public expenditure for there are no cash outflows but most of that money gets eaten up anyway in administrative work plus corrupt. Plus TNC's require Forex not pakistan currency thus we need loves. Transparency International i think quoted at 25% of all the revenue earned by a country is eaten up by corruption on average. Pakistan i bet is much more.

Ok. I suppose the policies adopted by the government don't have much bearing. I don't know. I thought Javed Burki wasn't lying when he praised Shaukat Aziz's policies on TV.

I don't know why the Pakistan of pre-98 didn't perform as well as it is now. There were no economic sanctions back then, just military sanctions.

gggggg
