Very sad and horrible incident. Regardless of where the culprits are from, I wish they get apprehended quickly.

It was not suicidal and it was not by RDX. Crudely made country bombs. ONly Islamic terrorist are so sophisticated and brain washed to do this kind of mayhem. The hindu terrorist cell that operate does not have any kind of support from mass people. Maximum like 200 people attended their training camp. Most of them are behind bars now. You can blame as much as you like but terror islam has become a curse to this civilization now. It did not help also that Indian govt. does not have any clue to this and very ill prepared to handle this situation.

Repeating the same mantra and parroting it might help you win the sympathy of the scared and worried folks, but at the end of it when the smoke clears you will STILL have the issues to deal with in your own nation. The sooner you deal with 'em the better.

These attacks are similar to the 2004 Khobar Tower massacar attacks but are on a bigger scale. That was also a military style attack on western targets in a city.

WE do not yet know exactly who is behind the Mumbai bombings.
But we can consider numerous scenarios, based on past bombings in India’s most cosmopolitan, commercial city.
An unknown group called Deccan Mujahidin has claimed responsibility. Deccan refers to the high plateau that rises behind Mumbai city - the hinterland of the western Indian state of Maharashtra.
There has been much violence between Hindus and Muslims in the hinterland.
If the Deccan Mujahidin have been recruited from that hinterland, it would not come as a surprise.
On the other hand, the adoption of this name could be a smokescreen.
Has al-Qaida been involved? The history of local community tension is sufficiently serious it does not need the hand of al-Qaida.
If it turns out that al-Qaida was involved, it would be because they were either invited into Mumbai by the deeply alienated Muslims of that city or because al-Qaida saw this as fertile ground for spawning its power on the Indian subcontinent.
In India claims about al-Qaida are often mixed up with allegations about Pakistan’s Intelligence Service, the ISI, or Lashkar-e-Toiba, a wing of the large non-government organisation, Jammat-ud-Dawa.
With Lashkar-e-Toiba there is some evidence of involvement in recruiting supporters in western India.
Might radical Muslim students be behind the bombings? Governments have placed radical Muslim student organisations under surveillance, so this seems unlikely.
We also need to consider another possibility – that this is the work of Hindu rather than Muslim terrorists.
The history of modern India and Mumbai is littered with violent acts, including terrorism by militant Hindu fundamentalists. But it is unlikely such terrorism would be aimed at foreigners.
The remaining possibility of suspicion falls on criminal or mafia gangs.
The Bombay bombings of March 12, 1993, are very similar to what has happened in Mumbai. A series of 13 explosions killed 257 people and injured more than 700.
Police arrested 123 suspects and at the top of the apex was one family of middle-class Muslims who formed part of a local mafia gang headed up by Dawood Ibrahim.
The terrible situation in Mumbai must be placed in the context of the politics of Hindu-Muslim conflict during the last decades.
Indian states have done little to promote peaceful Hindu-Muslim relations or community policing.
Angry Muslims, therefore, are vulnerable.
**In essence, these Mumbai bombings are home-grown. **

Oh come on teggy. Dont be so naive to blame this on hindu terrorist. I have no regard for any kind of terrorism, be it hindu or muslim. But its a fact that Islam terrorism has gone out of controll. Whatever you said if applied to pakistan in the 70s we would not have seen pakistan in this mess. In India, with two episodes of bombing by hindu terrorist, the culprits are got and are being tried. Our police did not show any mercy on those idiots who were behind those attack.
But this episode is out of the league for any hindu terrorist to attempt. They are not at all motivated to attack western targets and not in any way attempt to kill many hindus. The hindu terrorist have one point agenda of targeting muslims and their bomb blast was aimed at places muslims are concentrated. This kind of attack is way out of their agenda.

I really hope that Indian media and auhtority name the real culprits but the more this situation carries on and domestic names like Daccan Mujhadeen are mentioned and forign elements like the boat from Karachi are hinted, I can't help but keep thinking about the ending of the movie The Dark Knight. Pakistan being The Batman in this situation tells India, "blame it on me. If indeed Indian Muslims are behind this the reprecussions in the country would be unthinkable, thousands of people are gonna die in religious riots. But if I am blamed then there's just another reason for indians to hate Pak." and drives off into the night on his bat-motorcyle.
But serously though, India blames Pak for these attacks, big deal. Already in the western media Pakistan and terrorism, these two words are dropped like dime a dozen everyday. I say bring it on.

Don't you feel ashamed of the country that is the butt of all jokes worldwide? That is the beacon and leader of aids cases in the world, right behind africa? Do you not feel great that there are 21 violent separatist movements in your country, but you blame everything on another country.
