Terror attack in Mumbai, Hotel Oberoi under siege

So the militants fighting in FATA are opressed muslim brethern .... is that the way to treat muslim citizens

This incident took place in India. Can we stay focused please?

Christine Fair, senior political scientist and a South Asia expert at the RAND Corporation, was careful to say that the identity of the terrorists could not yet be known. But she pointed to India’s domestic problems, and long tensions between Hindus, who make up about 80 percent of India’s population of 1.13 billion, and Muslims, who make up 13.4 percent.

“There are a lot of very, very angry Muslims in India,” Ms. Fair said. “The economic disparities are startling and India has been very slow to publicly embrace its rising Muslim problem. You cannot put lipstick on this pig. This is a major domestic political challenge for India.

“The public political face of India says, ‘Our Muslims have not been radicalized,’ she said. “But the Indian intelligence apparatus knows that’s not true. India’s Muslim communities are being sucked into the global landscape of Islamist jihad.”

“Indians will have a strong incentive to link this to Al Qaeda,” she said. “But this is a domestic issue. This is not India’s 9/11."

As you said, India's treatment of Muslims results in tragedies like this. Same goes for Israeli treatment of Palestinian citizens.

Pakistan should send its people to observe what is happening on the ground.

With issue like this Pakistan has right to defend if negative propaganda is so much against it.

Denial from India will mean India is not sincere at all.

Re: Terror attack in Mumbai, Hotel Oberoi under siege

An interesting bit from BBC along with Witness accounts:

**Pappu Mishra was tending to his customers at his glass-walled cafe at the gothic Victorian Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station in Mumbai when he spotted two sprightly young men dressed in black.

**He remembers the two sauntering into the waiting hall, plonking their handbags on the floor, taking out a gun “which looked like an AK-47”, and walking toward the platforms where they gunned down late-evening commuters on the city’s busy suburban train network.
“Their audaciousness was breath-taking,” he says.
“One man loaded the magazine into the gun, the other kept shooting. They appeared calm and composed. They were not in the slightest hurry. They didn’t seem to be afraid at all.”
The men entered a platform and shot a man near an automated teller machine.

Then, the “foreign looking, fair skinned” men, as Mr Mishra remembers them, simply carried on killing.

"They wore white jeans and T-shirts. They were shouting, getting agitated and waved their guns around.

Gaffar Abdul Amir, an Iraqi tourist from Baghdad, says he saw at least two men who started the firing outside the Leopold Cafe.
He was returning to his hotel from the seaside with a friend when he saw two men carrying bags and b*****shing AK-47s walking in front of them, shooting.
“They did not look Indian, they looked foreign. One of them, I thought, had blonde hair. The other had a punkish hairstyle. They were neatly dressed,” says Mr Amir.

I'm not surprised by the Indian reaction, that is to sum up in one word DENIAL.

Denial of the fact that a large segment of the Indian population that comprises a certain minority faith is disconnected from the mainstream society. They feel totally out of the loop and are instituationally discriminated against.

Ofcourse, its so convenient to dump it on Pakistan and avoid exposing the rotting stink wreaking from your own closet.

Yesterday, 2 things I heard on CNN-IBN were that "Pakistan ordinance ammunitions" were used and a "Pakistani trawler" was the mother ship. Later all exposed to be false, with an Indian army official refuting the second allegation. The first reaction: Pakistan. The Indians are blinded by their hate and suspicion for their neighbour, wh ich is truly disgusting.

I'm appaled and disgusted by the way this is all going. The Indians insanely want the naighbour-theory to be true, because anything else would a) expose the mess in their own society and b) expose how ineffective their own government and law and order/intelligenece gathering system is.

Re: Terror attack in Mumbai, Hotel Oberoi under siege

What is Pakistan doing from its end to answer the allegations?

Re: Terror attack in Mumbai, Hotel Oberoi under siege

there is an other very important aspect of this incident. IF Al-qareeda is linked with this incident, then it indicates a HUGE shift in their tactics. THey engaged so far successfuly with elite Indian armed forces groups & spread more terror than few suicide bomb attacks. IF this is the new face of terrorism, then we are in trouble.

You win sir. These indians are using pakistan's name to push their agenda, it seems.

Kashmiris generally don’t use those terms when speaking Urdu, and know how to pronounce their “zoes” and “zes.” Native Koshur-speakers actually have a very distinctive accent when speaking Urdu, which I’m guessing you’ve never heard before. It doesn’t sound like the callers were even trying to approximate it.

It’s always nice to see people who’ve never set foot in Kashmir making authoritative statements on what Kashmiris must sound like.

These are the “foreign looking, fair skinned” men?

Last time I checked, that’s what 90% of South Asian men look like.

Pakistani Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani has strongly rejected all such 'claims'. He basically said it's irresponsible for Indian Govt. to make assumptions considering that in the previous allegations there have not been any proofs and afterwards it turned out that it was indeed home grown terrorists who were behind the Train blast (which too was blamed on Pakistan until recently). No proof has been shared with the accused.

He urged everyone to use restraint and let the facts come out.

Let peace prevail and also sensibility with sensitivity.

Re: Terror attack in Mumbai, Hotel Oberoi under siege

You do not need to be a foreign looking and fair skinned to become a foreigner.Anyone with a citizenship can become a foreign national. For example, pakistani youths involved in tubular attacks, and other subversive activities in Europe.
