true..and thanks to tv shows **tat we watch these days..i think a yaer or so ago there was this dr. phil **episode where this "saint", beautiful gori 19 year old was on stage and issue was that she was too much of a saint..phil was saying/implying tat 19 year was too much of a wait and tat a kiss is ok. he was appaled by her response tat she had never kissed..so with tv shows like tat wat msg r we to get?
PCG is right. Stop showing movies and tv shows to ur kids.
When we were kids, we were allowed to watch only 1 hour of television each day. Only when we had our homework done, prayers said, quran recited, and prepared uniforms and school bag for the next day, that we were allowed to tune into our favourite tv shows for an hour and then we went straight to bed. And we were never allowed to watch any movies, just saw the animated cindrella I think.
Now that we're grown up, we can watch whatever the hell we want but Alhumdulillah I'm still not a tv addict nor a bollywood/hollywood fan coz I never got used to it when i was young.
Now ofcourse hardly any parents do this nowadays. I mean this would probably be considered torture among kids these days.
I heard John Kerry's wife saying in an interview that she "used to be a witch" with her kids reagrding tv. They could only watch one programme and then they had to write an essay on what they saw!
Re: tere sang
but that still doesn't tell give you my age idea..:P
Re: tere sang
just ban indian movies. ¬¬
but that still doesn't tell give you my age idea..:P
I know that after certain age, you wont use 'tat' instead of 'that' even if its an in thing :D .. so yes, I do have an idea of your age
just ban indian movies. ¬¬
then ban all movies- indian and american. why stop there? ban all tv shows too, like huma said. i've spent a lot vacations in pakistan so i grew up watching indian movies and paki dramas along with all the american stuff. i saw a paki drama that showed an unwed pregnant girl... a paki drama. so how much can we really ban? just show the kids bambi, snow white, the lion king until they're older?
U r right prototype..how much can we really ban?
tv has an influence but like soundrya said if we ban tv or other things then kids will be curious..so real problem is not tv..it's what it shows to be okay.
Re: tere sang
and problem here is not tv..problem is the issue..even if ban tv i don't think out of wed lock pregnancies will cease.
Re: tere sang
.. but whats the name of the movie?
oh never mind i got it :D
hahaa i was gonna say the same:p
Re: tere sang
Sounds like a re-make of Juno...
But then again, most Bollywood movies are remakes of Hollywood stories.
Re: tere sang
i have also seen this movie and just like any other bollywood movie, the story looks cute in film but in reality it would never ´be accepted.
Re: tere sang
If you are trying to find a "trend" or "logic" or "reality of life" in Indian movie, God bless you.
Re: tere sang
Im sorry but how exactly does a film show that its ok *to have a baby? All around me i've seen people have babies, I've never felt it was ok to have one, One because i knew my mum would beat the crap out of me and two my dad would honour kill me. My friends have had babies, Im lucky enuff that my mum knows i have a bf but thats only because she knows im gonna marry him, back in the day if i would of mention'd a guy i would of got a slap or two.
Films, soaps, dont always sugar coat things they make you realise how unreal it is, sometimes on soaps they show the complete opposite. Alot of bollywood films even back in the day they used to runaway etc doesnt make me think Oh im gonna run away with my bf, No way. Its called Morals and being brought up in the correct way and understanding that your parents dont allow it and their respect you have to take into consideration.
As we all know Muslims/asian people would basically got disowned even murdered if they ever got pregnant before marriage. So we all know what would happen jus by watching a film i wouldnt think well they did it so will i. *rolls eyes

i wudn't say we all know. if we all knew there wudn't be out of wedlock pregnancies to begin with. u can't deny tat tv/movies have an influence. they do!

a remake of hollywood or not, that's not an issue.

thank you. what's the big deal if i watched a movie and felt that something was being portrayed wrong and opened a thread about it. like i've said tv does have an influence. they dont' show reality of life but it does have an influence.
also, there have been many movies which have showed and opened up eyes abour reality of life..just to name a few "provoked"(about abusive husband), taare zameen per (about dyslexia), khamoshi (i don't remember exactly but i know both parents were deaf and mute)..these movies have highlighted realities/difficulties of life to a certain extent and made general public aware of issues (not full extent). there was another good movie "red light" it was all about teh big mafia running behind beggers.
Re: tere sang
^ Ofcourse they do, but what im trying to say is wether its muslim/non muslim/ black white blue red green people being pregnant, i wouldnt, i wud be too scared to. No matter how badly i wanted a baby i wud wait till my parents got me married. Either that or me dead basically. Even if i ran away my Abbu jee would find me. Lol :p

Lets agree to disagree here.
If you have said that about Iranian movies, I would have agreed or even some Indian art movie rest of the 95% of the Bollywood movies are just Masala movies and has nothing to with reality of life.

Yeah, I agree with your points. But there are some people who might be a little filmi, or stupid rather, and think it's romantic to run away, they'll play house for some time then the parents will approve. if the girl gets pregnant, oh well, it's not so bad because she's in love with the guy. It really depends on the audience, their morals, and how easily influenced they are.
