Tendulkar's flamboyance is history, says Viv Richards

Re: Tendulkar’s flamboyance is history, says Viv Richards

yarr ghussa na kar…Sorry if I sounded rude… but naheen yarr, they are two different type of players…both of them are great but they have a different style…let me throw more light on it…players like Yoyo use their wrist a lot and play a lot of delicate shots with a soft hand…let me give you an example……consider playing a late cut…the way yoyo plays the late cut, Richard ka bapp be waisay late cut nahiee khel sakta…he simply can’t because he is a different sort of player… if you really want to compare Yoyo with some one, probably, mohammad azhar ud din, david gower and zaheer abass are the closest comparisons…

On the other hand, Viv Richaards was a master blaster….Richard was known for the sheer force he used to put in his shots, the authority with which he used to hit the ball and the cleanliness of his strokes…..Every shot that came off Richard’s bat had his own signature stamped on it…..but of course, Richard was not that wristy and for sure he never played any shot with a soft hand…….in my opinion, if any one ever resembled Richard to some extent, it was Richie Richardson. i hope I have made my point…..

Again, I apologize if I were rude before…..Regards…..

awwwwwwwwwww whoever mentioned that term kaaloo deewanay and the names brought back olden gold days of life and I walked down the memory lane when Qasim Umer scored a double century against WI’s. We had a kaaloo deewana too

I so remember WI’s all out for 53 in a test by the googly nachaiiya Abdul Qadir :stuck_out_tongue:

Interesting old memories sharing..

Indeed Viv was a class act. The earliest memories of this great memories goes some where near 1986-87. After that I have more clear picture of Riche but he was no way near to Viv.

But some one I have admired from the first ball of his career is our great INZIMAM UL HAQ.

hmm… ok I got your point. As far as wristy shots are concerned, I can see Zaheer Abbas and at some point Gower’s style close to Yohanna’s. But the cleanliness of shots in Viv’s batting is visible in Yohanna’s batting as well. Specially mid-wicket SIX that has become Yoyo’s signature now is played with full force, with ofcourse minimum wrist effect. What I meant is now a days there are lots of hitters and stroke players in Int’l cricket, but that type of cleanliness and sexy style is nowhere. I only see the reflection of those past greats in Yohanna’s batting. Although there are Inzi, Tendi, Sehwag, Afridi, Gillie, Hyden and Ponting. But that sexy style of batting is not found in their batting. Will you agree?

I remember that match when akram showed his batting talent in the second innings, i guess it was his first test fifty thanks to salim malik who came at number 11 with a plaster
