Temples in Pakistan

Re: Temples in Pakistan

Muaq bhai is amazing and very knowledgeable. He is awwal number personality.

Thanks for all the info on the temples. Would be great if you could also post photos. Share your experience on my Pakistanophile thread. If you admire and respect the freedom minorities have in Karachi then let others know  Usually we don’t hear such things in media.

Re: Temples in Pakistan

True. There may be few events here and there and some people who have had such experiences but the richness of Sindh culture continues. I do know some Pakistani Hindus in Sindh. They love their homeland and though some may have issues it is not unlike elsewhere. Also, they blame their leadership for being apathetic to their issues. If as a minority one faces issues one should also take initiative to change things and speak out to others abut it. if you helplessly accept status quo then why complain.

Re: Temples in Pakistan

Probably, you haven't visited Regal Chowk and Mehmoodabad / Azam basti areas and churches in these areas.

Re: Temples in Pakistan

No but I am talking about public display of Christian symbols on sale.

There is one church on M.A Jinnah road.Right? A white one... :)

Re: Temples in Pakistan

you should show him around Muqa bhai. He is also a fellow Sindhi.

Re: Temples in Pakistan

Why do you want to give Muqawwee Bhai too much troubles?:D

Re: Temples in Pakistan

There is one near Regal Chowk.

One near Empress Market (first church in Karachi)..

Then there is one near Mehmoodabad Thana and small churches in Azam Basti.

Items like Christmas tree, Cross and pictures of Jesus and Virgin Marry can be seen on shops of Saddar and Clifton near Christmas.

yeh koi bollywood hit song lag raha hai. Is it from an old film?
I mean koi aur ishaara kar sakta hai..sarkar ke haath bahot lambe ho sakte hain. They might see your GS thread on general about Indian crossing border. Iss liye i was saying

Mandir thread mein aisi baatein. Reminds me of Sridevi’s Mohe chedo na song. It had some beautiful scenery of the temple there. there should be a bollywood song made in some of these temples also.

Re: Temples in Pakistan

Details about Uderolal Temple.

Uderolal, Sindh | Sindhi Hindu Mandirs and Gurdwaras

The shrine at Uderolal, Sindh, honors Jhule Lal. Sindhi Hindus typically refer to him as an appearance of either Vishnu or Varuna who saved Hindus from a tyrannical ruler who threatened to force them to become Muslims. Sindhi Muslims associate this shrine and the figure known as Jhule Lal with a Sufi master. Therefore, the shrine has two sides, a mosque on one side and

a temple on the other, and both Hindus and Muslims visit the shrine.
These photos are courtesy of some of the many Sindhis who assisted me in compiling this information. They had visited Sindh several decades ago. I would appreciate more recent photos and additional descriptions of experiences at Uderolal.
