funguy, yeah I'll go to their office now and check with them. From what I gathered after talking to other students, they said just fill in the forms and send them in...

have you had any source of income other than your scholarship and maybe parents eg a job? If so, did you earn more than $5000(its the tax exemptr amount for paki students in US) during the calendar year?
What exactly does your scholarship cover? Does it cover your room and dining too? If it does you have to declare that amount (room+meals) as your income too.

I have done part time on campus jobs for like 5-8 hrs a week which fetched me like 1000-3000 dollars per yr during some yrs in undergrad...there were some yrs I dint work...
My scholarship is more than tuition and covers my room and dining and travel expenses too [like basically everything]...
khayr, I just went to the tax people's office on my campus, got the 1042-S that had incorrect info reprinted, so they gave me the correct 1042-S, and they said that now I just need to file my forms and send them in to the IRS and I'll be set, and that I should be getting a significant fraction of the amount that was withheld from me back...I got the old blank forms for the past three yrs from friends, luckily one guy had all the old forms and my roommate had saved the electronic versions too...So, today inshallah I'll just sit down with my roomie for a couple hours, fill in all the forms, and just send them in :) and aagay Allah Maalik...
