i know hell lot of srilankan tamils in usa and i know what is the truth much better then those sites
but thanks anyway for your reference, and i still want to confirm that the struggle is not religious based but it is on ethical basis, i don’t know you guys see religion in everything

a) its not one of “those sites” its a harvard academic paper.
b) whether or not its on an ethical or religious basis is irrelevant, you argued that its dominated by Christians, and regardless of what you hear, any corroboration from a reliable source is absent.

Before also you have argued to paint LTTE as an ideology based on religious radicalization…probably you want to draw parallels with Islamic radicals worldwide.

No i dont. I merely argued before, and maintain now that Hindu extremist/militant/terrorist is a correct characterization. It may be a politically motivated one, sure.

Let’s see, if this time it makes clear to you or not…their struggle is mainly due to their own ethnic/language–Tamil and they do not draw inspiration for their struggle from any of Hindu or Religious figures/Religious Scriptures/Religious practices etc.

I have never heard a news where Tamil tigers are recruited giving them lectures of Vedanta or stories of Puranas…already told it is impossible to invent an ideology similiar to Ummah or equivalent—it never exists in Dharma.

As you said majority of them are Hindus, so be it if they are Hindus— one should not jump to conclude that they are terrorists based on religion as long they are not terrorizing others in name of religion.

Most important LTTE is not fighting for a seperate state where they can implement a Sharia like law with strict Talibani ways—**their movement is for a Tamil state not for a religion based state. **(at least read their official websites)

Sure it can be argued that they’re fighting for a Tamil state and not a Hindu state and have a significant Christian minority. PLO had a Christian component. Hezbollah has a Christian component. Black anti-apartheid militancies had non-Black components, and they werent fighting for a black state. The adjective “Hindu” can correctly be a description of the composition and not necessarily idealogy of the group just as there are many Muslim countries in the world but very few with an statedly Islamic foreign policy.

When a Hindu man blows himself up, explain to me how it isnt correct to call him a Hindu militant. It is ONE characterization of him, and one that might unfairly associate Hinduism with terrorism, but it still is a correct characterization. Just as calling him a Tamil terrorist shouldnt reflect on people of tamil ethnicity who dont share his views.

Rest all Hindus in other parts of India (non-tamil speaking) consider them as terrorists.
