Re: Tameer e School program
Splendid initiative.
All talks of more democracy and better government aside, students of history will not dispute the role of philanthropy in establishing the civil societies of the West. It bridges the gap, sets trend, mobilises communities, raises awareness, and ultimately shows governments exactly how things can be done. While I do love politics, but its actually philanthropy that takes most of my respect and admiration - to me, it enriches the soul of a nation. Thus, it is by virtue, a constant source of inspiration, a wholesome cause of creative struggles, and account of activity and change. If there is anyone in Pakistan who is capable of making philanthropy a social and political movement is Imran Khan.
But having said all that, I cannot help but share a very fine quote by Martin Luther King Jr:
*"Philanthropy is commendable, but it must not cause the philanthropist to overlook the circumstances of economic injustice which make philanthropy necessary". *
Without really stating the obvious or disturbing the elephant in the room, no amount of philanthropy in Pakistan will effectively erase all problems until and unless the dynamics and proportions of GDP budget isn't changed to combat educational deficit.
