Taking pictures - again

Re: Taking pictures - again

so having a soul is the criterium:

so wat about making an echo of an unborn fetus before the 8th week of pregnancy?

does this fetus have a soul? I think not, cuz the time when it does have a soul is over 8 weeks, am I right (if it is another limit, substitute that one for the 8 ).

In other words, are you allowed to take a picture of a thing that doesn't have a soul, but might have one in future?

Re: Taking pictures - again

no, as it is not allowed to make a picture of a dead man, although the soul has departed from him....

Re: Taking pictures - again

Reading this thread is a reminder to me that if and when I revert to Islam, I will look at the words of God only (Quran) for guidance and not try to decipher the man made words that followed (hadith).

Re: Taking pictures - again

isn’t there a difference between someone who has lived, and something that is yet to live?

Another question pops up: are you allowed to take a picture of a cell that originates from a living being? Clearly, the cell on it’s own won’t have a soul, but the collection of millions of cells (=the creature) has.

Following this up: are you allowed to take a picture of a fertilized egg?

Re: Taking pictures - again

i was told that you are allowed to take photos of things that are halal for your eyes to view, i.e. photo of non-mehram women is not permissible as it is not permissible for your eyes to view non-mehram women, photos of landscape/scenery/animals are okay as they dont fall under category of haram things.

Re: Taking pictures - again

^ now thats a very arguable comment....

nescio, too many question fall under "kasrat assawaal" and that is what the Prophet (saw) has said in a hadith was the cause of "halaakat" for many a nation....

cells, eggs, which r not readily recognized as "living beings" r fine to be snapped....

P.S. asve urself and others the headache and just sell off ur camera or in case u r just planning to buy, drop the idea....
