Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

Re: Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

I think I'm going to try and avoid too much fried food this Ramadan, because not only is it unhealthy but I've also noticed it leaves me with this nasty bloaty feeling and I end up feeling sick and lazy. But good thread :)

Re: Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

For Complex Carbs check this:
Complex Carbohydrate Food - Foods High in Complex Carbohydrates - Sources of Complex Carbohydrate

For desi dishes I presume that things like makki roti and haleem are good, haleem especially so because of the meat content for protein and all the concoction of those lentils and pulses but be sure to reduce mirch level during Ramadan. Spices and masalas are nice but they too are bad for the gut.

Not long to go now for Ramadan … start the live bacteria drinks from today … one every evening. Also try to eat less than normal for the next day or so.

Re: Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

one is suppose to feel the hunger at some point during his/her fasting.. thats when u get the real swaab and thats is when u remember Allah the most.. keeping urself full for the whole day and searching for the foods to keep u fuller during fasting , well what exactly is the point of fasting then?

ps: its just one month, nothing worse can happen to you then losing a couple of pounds , which some of u are hoping to do..so its all good , peepzz!!

Actually this thread is supposed to be a mechanism of making us do what is required anyway. It is like taking away the years of bad haibits that our societies have developed regarding food in Ramadaan and giving a rational reason to adopt the best way of eating and drinking. The fact is that people eat and feast more in Ramadaan but traditionally this was never the case.

The people today over eat and become heavy and tired for prayer but these foods digest slowly it does not mean that they will not feel hungry, besides there are less calories in these foods and they will get better health in general. Does not Islam encourage this?

The date … what is the wisdom in eating them during Ramadaan? Because they give instant energy and are good on the digestive system. When we eat less our metabolisms work harder thus drying out our guts if we do not take care of our diets then we will put ourselves in difficulty. Allah (SWT) does not want us to be in excessive difficulty … Being really hungry and not taking care of our body is wrong, but at the same time focussing on our bodies like a diet for Ramadaan is wrong too. We have one incentive to take care of our bodies so that we do not ruin our chances for a meaningful time of ibadah instead of taking time off resting or at the doctors due to upset systems.

Re: Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

what the heck is porridge? where can one find it?

Re: Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

^ porridge is just oatmeal I think... and u can find it at any store (shoppers, grocery etc)..

I think psyah covered it… but also, some people know that their eating habits are not so good and decide that Ramadan is the best time to start fixing their eating habits for good… just like ppl change certain habits with the intent of keeping them for the rest of the year… So yes i’d b very much interested in some tips for how to actually fix my eating habits for good… :halo:

Good post. But most people here are concerned about indigestion and overweigthing due to oily and heavy stuffs.

Re: Taking care of your digestive system during Ramadaan

Actually your body only starts fasting 8 or so hours after your last meal by when it has absorbed all the nutrients stored in your body. So if you are doing a 12-14 hour fasting day then technically as far as the physical effects from your body POV, you have only fasted 4-6 hours! All that work for just 4 hours of fast!!! hmmmm!!!
