so Pakistan has to rearrange Zim series? but will that help? since Zim is rated below Pak in ICC ranking I dont think Pakistan will gain much anyway while WI will gain a lot if their series with India goes through and they come out as a winner.

Pakistan has moved into eighth position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings after its 3-2 series victory in Sri Lanka in the five-match series which concluded in Hambantota on Sunday.
Azhar Ali’s men have advanced to 90 points, two ahead of the West Indies, and now has seventh-placed Bangladesh firmly in its sights. The win has also brightened Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the 2017 Champions Trophy, provided West Indies don’t play a series before the cut-off date of September 30.
But West Indies Cricket Board president Whycliffe “Dave” Cameron said Champions Trophy qualification was a bridge too far at the moment for the Caribbean side.
“I must say to you that we’re probably 90 per cent sure that we’re not going to make it to the Champions Trophy at this point in time,” Cameron said while speaking to local media.
“It’s part and parcel of not performing year in, year out that we’ve found ourselves in this position. All we can say is that all our programmes have to be geared towards making West Indies cricket better. I don’t think if you try to do stop-gap measures by going to the Champions Trophy that serves anything at this point in time,” he added.
Things have not been so good for Sri Lanka either and though they remain in fifth place, they have dropped three rankings points which means that sixth-placed England has an opportunity to gain ground on Angelo Mathews’ men when it faces Australia in a five-match ODI series from September 3-13.
Player rankingsMohammad Hafeez was the highest run-getter in the series against Sri Lanka and his tally of 273 runs in five games (including a highest score of 103, as well as innings of 70 and 54) has propelled the 34-year-old three places to 29th in the ICC Player Rankings for ODI Batsmen.
There were also notable gains for his team-mates Ahmed Shehzad (up five places to 30th) and skipper Azhar (up eight places to a career high 42nd).
Despite scoring two half centuries in the final two games of the series, and in doing so passing the landmark 10,000 run mark in his 319th ODI, which the hosts won by 165 runs, Sri Lanka’s Tillakaratne Dilshan has dropped one place to sixth on 781 points and is now five points behind Black Caps’ Kane Williamson.
Mathews has also dropped down to 21st place, however there were positive movements for Lahiru Thirimanne (up three places to 36th) and Kusal Perera (up nine places to a career high 64th).
The top 10 remains unchanged which means that South Africa’s AB de Villiers remains in first position on 889 points.
In the ICC Players Rankings for ODI Bowlers, the top 10 remains unchanged though Pakistan’s Mohammad Irfan has improved his ranking by a place and is now level with his team-mate Mohammad Hafeez in 16th place after claiming four wickets in the series for 257 runs.
Another upward mover for the visitors in the aftermath of the series was Yasir Shah who has vaulted 44 places to a career high 97th.
For Sri Lanka, Sachithra Senanayake’s three for 39 in his solitary outing has helped him move up three places to 18th, while Thisara Perera has moved up seven places to 75th.
Shakib retains his number one spot in the ICC Player Rankings for ODI All-rounders on 418 points, but he has extended his lead to 39 points over Dilshan who is four points ahead of his team-mate Mathews.
Hafeez lies in fourth place on 368 points.
In the next ODI series, Zimbabwe will host third-placed New Zealand with the first of three ODIs due to start in Harare on 2 August.

Let me retract my statement. So it turns out that was not a smart but dumb move by Shaharyar and PCB. By declining to play the tri-series, they gave WICB a reason to play else-where (India). They could have played the tri-series, beaten both WI and Zimbabwe further denting Windies ranking points. If we are not even confident of beating bottom ranked teams then we don't deserve to play CT. Now Windies only have to beat India 2-1 or 3-2 (which is possible) to move above Pakistan.

Yet another move - Series will start in late Sept and the ODIs will be played in Oct.

system has been used against Pak so many times, I dont mind PCB trying to use it for us but I hope they they play safe and preempt other board’s moves

how about arranging more tests, more odi's for Pak team......its sad the pakistani team hardly plays any tests each year

Agree we do need to play more tests but this year hasn't been so bad despite it being a world cup year (teams traditionally play fewer games in a WC year)
From April to Nov 2015 Pakistan are playing 8 tests. England will have played 13 tests in the same period.
England esp. are very lucky. They play 12-17 tests per year!

Look at Cook and Clarke.
Cook debut March 2006, playing his **117th test. **He will have played around 125 tests by the end of 2015 (i.e. in 9.5 years!)
Clarke debut 2004, playing his 113th test
Younis debut 2000 has played 101 tests so far

Cricket not gonna end up by CT.
If they don't play fair with minor boards who will be friend with pcb.
No one will help them in future.
