Islam is not ALL about self reform.... the Prophet (SAW) came in and implemented Islam as a SYSTEM.... we could all just give sadaqa and zakat but then why was the bayt-ul-maal set up?
"responsible face" = sucking up to Musharraf?
Agreed: peace is the way to go, no arguements there, but is turning a blind eye on the reality of our society (which is what makes them look so peaceful) the way to go in terms of Implementing Islam as a whole?
While the brothers in Tabligh Jammat are tolerant and peaceful, they need to take on their responsibilities outside that masjid. Sitting in the corner of masjid all day is not what Islam is all about. The prophet (S.A.W) used to discuss the issues of society EVEN in the masjid (let alone outside of the masjid). I mean I have nothing against them nor am I even a good muslim (WaAllah ho alam what my status is in front of Allah Raheem-ul-Kareem at this point) but they need to be active in the society and keep track of whats going on in the world. Rarely have I seen khutbas with the mentioning of current events.
This argument by some scholars is quite wrong, if the very first converts to Islam were to wait around til the Quran was written and books were made available to them before going out to spread the word, You and I may not be Muslims today.
Sahaba karaam travelled to countries after Prophet Mohammed PBUH's death, by that time they were fully trained and had gained Islam. Besides, people from "tablighee jamat" don't go to non-Muslims rather visit Muslims only so your comment is invalid.
ummm, yes, but we can ONLY do work in "God's" path in a manner that will please Him. E.g: u cant show off to everyone as to how much sadaqa u give to the poor bcoz it isn't allowed, justtifying it by saying it is in "God's path" is not an excuse....
Islam was sent down to be implemented as a system.... its not just an individual thing... its not enough to be praying 100 rakats of nafil in a mosque and ignore the community in which the shariah sent by Allah is being tampered with! And yet the tableeqis consider speaking out against and corrupt and unislamic politicians as "gheeba (backbiting)"...
Any Islamic movement should aim to implement Allah's deen on this earth, not confine it to a mosque. Deen may begin in a masjid but it doesn't end their... u cant tell ppl in a mosque to lower thier gazes and then not make an effor to rid the surrounding billaboards filled with scantly dressed women! u have to do both, that is what islam's about.
Wassalam

Dear Sarah, there's no show-off. In fact, any deed without the sincerity of intention towards Allah is not acceptable to Him. A system can come only into effect when the followers have the zeal and passion in their hearts to submit their will to Allah as commanded.
The evil and decay you see all around is that it's burdensome on a Muslim to follow even the basics such as offering 5 times Salat. The reforms need to come from within first. The purpose of tableegh is to instil that devotion of Faith in Allah in the hearts of the Believers that following upon commandments of the Creator becomes default.

You can not adopt selective Islam. You just want to adopt Baitulmal from the concept of Darul Islam and do not subscribe to enforcement of Islam on non-muslims by force. Osama types are not peaceful but atleast honest. You are comitting dishonesty by subscribing to selective portions of state Islam. Mitha mitha hup hup, karwa karwa thu thu....
I can not repeat same things over and over again. I have started a thread Mullahism vs real Islam which is quite relevant to the topic. Please study the discussions which has already taken place there and point out my mistakes. I would like to learn from you....
A similar discussion is also taking place in Dr Israar on Jawab deh..
