This was Simon Taufel (spelling?) Last match. Clearly he is a great umpire. In the West Indies innings there was an appeal for lbs early on ( with one wit down). I thought ball was going high and maybe missing leg stump. Aleem Dhar gave not out which I thought was good decision. The western commentator questioned decision. Replay showed ball barely grazed top of bails on outside of leg stump.
Good decision.
Next over Simon gave batsman not out to lbs shout. Western commentator was solidly supportive of Simon. Reply showed ball took ot leg stump. So closer to being out.
5 th wit lbs given out by Simon. Batsman appeared to be dissatisfied. Same western commentator " I am with Simon in this". Replay showed ball grazed glove.
Not to take away from Simon's great career. But reflexively taking a position by commentators appears to be alive and well. Though in a subtle manner
