As a Sri Lankan, I hope the guys can lift their game to bring the trophy home but - and I think this holds true for fans from both countries - we won’t begrudge a Pakistani victory nor will Pakistani fans begrudge us a victory. In many ways, the Pakistani cricket team are our cricketing cousins: our individual approaches to the game are philosophically closer than to the rest of the cricketing world. But like you said, the cricket itself pales in comparison to what the two countries have gone through in past few years and months. The cricket gods have given us a match that will transcend the game. I, for one, can’t wait. Good luck to both teams.

I just hope we don’t choke. We so often have that ‘heroes to zeroes’ mentality at times. Everyone has to show true passion and 100% fight in them today.

Gul needs to do same again as always and bowl hard to the sri batsman
Amir looks like he has the pace and accuracy to do some damage
Everyone in the team needs to play a part if we are to win.
Our bowlers must reduce their total, as they have some bowlers that will make it hard for pakis to score high.
We have a good chance if we can get a high total.

2.30pm Younis Khan and Kumar Sangakkara receive a big cheer ahead of the toss. Kumar has won the toss and Sri Lanka will bat. "We just want to enjoy the day and see where we get to," he says.
