swollen feet

Re: swollen feet

Aww i know what you men sweetie; during my first two, my feet survived the pregnancies totally unscathed, but this time round

This swelling (technically known as Oedema) during pregnancy has nothing to do with being healthy or not, and DOES NOT mean you’re having an “abnormal” pregnancy. During pregnancy, it is normal for women to collect more water in their bodies than they would normally , so a certain amount of swelling in the body (such as legs, feet, maybe even arms and hands) is normal so please do not be alarmed if you experience this. Also, swelling can be noticeably worse in the third trimester (which you’re entering) and during hot weather periods.

However, in addition to the aforementioned, there are some signs of swelling that you should seek medical advice for. Contact your medical team (GP, midwife OBGYN etc) for advice/assistance if you notice any of the following:

=> Extreme swelling in your face or around your eyes
=> Excessive swelling of your hands (more than just a tightness of your rings)
=> Excessive and/or sudden swelling of your legs and feet (comes on within hours)
=>Swelling more in one leg than the other (noticable difference between the 2)
=> Pain in your extremities, particularly calves or thighs

Hope everything is going well for you so far! Good luck with the final months!
